My creative career began early with a job for my dad to carefully slice large roles of images taken from a satellite traveling above the planet Mars. The images were assembled to create giant photo mosaics for scientists to study the Martian landscape. I was nine years old.

More formally, I’ve spent the majority of my career working in children’s museums and design firms, one of which I co-lead with my business partner and husband at The Sibbett Group.

Below are some highlights of projects that make me particularly proud.

My First Design Project:
Brian’s Rabbit Enclosure

My childhood was filled with outdoor bush forts and indoor creative projects, including painting a mural on my bedroom wall. For my 9th birthday, I asked for a vice to clamp miniature parts for a homemade dollhouse. As far as I can tell, the above image is my first official design project: a deluxe enclosure for my pet rabbit, Brian.

3-day Exhibition
Europa: Life Under Ice

For just over a decade, I taught the Exhibition Development course for John F. Kennedy University’s Museum Studies graduate program. In 2007, students in the class collaborated to create an exhibition about Jupiter’s moon, Europa. The 3-day exhibition still makes me proud of the incredible effort put in by the students to gather research from scientists about the potential of life on Europa, trapped beneath an icy surface.

Peekaboo Palace:
Bay Area Discovery Museum

Peekaboo Palace was a willow sculpture created by Patrick Dougherty for the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, California. This time lapse video captures the multi-week process, which was the result of a great team, near-perfect weather and generous supporters.

Visioning Extravaganza:
IDEO for California College of the Arts

The Visioning Extravaganza was the culmination of a strategic planning process led by an IDEO team for the California College of the Arts. The day-long extravaganza invited participants from the CCA community to re-visit the school’s history as a way to shape their future strategy.

Calling All Muses:
Book Project Research

In 2019, I was able to convene a small group of museum and design professionals to ponder the 21st museum, a topic I’ve been exploring in the development of a book about the museum design process. The energy and ideas this group focused on the topic still amazes me: in a short amount of time we generated profound insights.
